Our New Little One

The time has come, we have waited so long,
little one entering the bright loud world.
All are waiting to show that you belong.
Our first peek shows tiny pink fingers curled.
A small sweet innocent face shines brightly.
Beautiful shimmering curls frame your face.
Dark blue eyes that open and close tightly.
A pair of soft pink lips to touch and trace.
You are the princess that makes you dad smile.
Big brother is so protective of you.
Mommy sighs knowing it was all worthwhile,
afraid to touch because you are brand new.
Thank you God for our precious little girl.
You will make life change, be busy, and whirl.

Basketball

I am pretty good at basketball I have a kind of knack.
I can dribble going forwards and I can dribble behind my back.
I can run just like a lightening bolt and beat them down the court
and this is pretty amazing since I am very short.
I am very good at free throws because my brother showed me how,
and now I love to be the one the other team will foul.
I love to shoot some field goals is i ever get the chance,
And I hope to help my team to the big basketball dance.

Poetry

When I hear the word poetry I think of a form of literature that is hard to understand. I don't know if it is the different rhyme schemes, but the words do not seem to pop into my head like they should. I have attempted to read many styles and topics of poetry. The ones I have understood or my teacher's have explained to me, I really like. It is very beautiful and meaningful. There is so much power behind some poems and it is filled with so much emotion and feeling. Other times I think poetry is so boring and I do not have any use for it. Poetry reminds me of high school again. I feel as if I am in the small little classroom with the friends I have grown up with for years, and we are picking apart each line to understand the meaning. Who cares? I have mix feelings about poetry but as long as I can understand it then I don't really mind reading a poem every now and then.
